Tunnel Vision

The narrowing of effective visible capacity as one speeds, moving swiftly, traversing distances while seeing less. Provoking an act of accident this so-called tunnel vision is pretty and damn dangerous, lowering our thinking capacities and our reaction times, giving no time to change the direction of the steering wheel or to turn around. What is so captivating about this phenomenon that some even get the adrenaline rush out of it? Maybe it is the speeds associated with it but still in the grasp of the tunnel vision we fall. And can this risky matter be a subject of pure joy in which we find absolute pleasure?

Sitting opposite to you and just gazing into your eyes, your small brown eyes. Eyes that not only reflect but hypnotize too. While the world around us carries on with its mundane tasks, while the hands of the clocks keep turning around and while the coffee keeps getting cold, I keep getting lost, not losing my visibility exactly but forsaking my sense of time. Just for the sake of observation one can only look into one eyeball at a time perfectly, focusing on one tunnel at a time. A tunnel where you shall have no inhibitions, no Orwellian dystopic thoughts about this world, all that you will have is pure joy. Imagine yourself moving through time and at greater speeds where everything is blurry, but nothing seems to matter and this movement is eternal bliss. An ethereal kind of aura surrounds you and it captivates so much so that you cannot speak through your mouth but only unconsciousness talks. This is what they call love. Being dangerous, risky and adventurous this is the love that you will find in your dearly beloved’s eyes. In love you shall find happiness and sadness, it will be everything a tunnel is. Light at the end while dark all the way and often repeating itself. Dusk to dawn this tunnel will guide you home because amongst this darkness and light lies all the pleasures of life.

In your eye I stare,

Slow movement through time, my dear,

Reflected, myself I see,

In this tunnel vision, so carefree.
