“Who has seen tomorrow? Live in the
moment” One might have heard people propounding and speaking these lines over
and over again, countless times, more often than not to people in distress.
Like an endless loop of convincing optimism. It is as if a data analyst reduces
the granularity of the data extracted from the database only focusing on today,
seeing only one speck from the countless grains of the infinite volume. Just
one dot i.e. today. But are humans actually capable of not just existing but
being in a particular moment?
Our minds are capable of impossible
feats. When our bodies had given up our mind pulls up the hope for the future,
future in which one breathes, smiles and enjoys. We find hope from our past too
and then we apply it to our present state, even in that scenario we are not
living in the moment. We are beings capable of living in many time zones. But according
to Droid, our perception of time is still naïve. As Kahlil Gibran has said On
Time that,”Of time you would make a
stream upon whose bank you would sit and watch its flowing.”, our frame of
reference shows time only as moving forward, hands of a clock moving forward
second after second adding 86400 seconds a day. But what really bothers Droid
is that if the planets orbit around the Sun in an elliptical orbit, getting the
same sunrise same sunset day after day, then how can the time itself be linear?
Even the dials of an analog watch are circular, contrasting the entire time is
linear concept. Droid had read an interesting article that stated that when
humans die, then in the last eight minutes their brain replays the entire
lifetime, all the choices made, all the circumstances avoided and all the opportunities
grabbed. What if we as humans are just rewinding to begin afresh, to start the
clock from zero again. Talking about death Droid even mentions that people even
often say that “it was not his time to
go, he went too soon, he should have lived longer”, humans put things into
their perspective and even death cannot escape from fitting itself into the
human point of reference. Death has a particular time, it is never too early,
never too late, there lies no existence beyond it, after it there are no roads
two roads from which one can choose a particular but what about rebirth then?
From an external frame of reference every
moment is but a speck, everything that has happened, is happening and will
happen has been concentrated into one speck, one dot. And as one zooms in one
can see the years, months, days, hours and seconds. Even Steve Jobs had said
that we can connect the dots backwards and never forward. From our frame of
reference, we as humans are incapable of understanding the circular nature of
time maybe it is because of our emotions too derived from our past, applied to
the present and prudent for our future, these emotions sometimes constrict us
from living in the moment. Again, speaking from a different perspective, one billion
years on earth can be one second on same place else, just a moment from
dinosaurs roaming to kim jong’s threatening, all in one moment. Can you live in
this moment now? No, this moment is too large for us humans to comprehend.
Droid believes that time is like a fountain throwing out water from the top but
sucking the same water from below, repeating itself countless number of times.
It is not the question of living in the moment anymore, it is about circularity
or linearity of time. Time and Money two things that have made us run our lives
in a particular fashion are still not comprehended well by us, Droid hopes that
we as humans are not late (pun intended) in understanding this circular thing. What
really puts a smile to Droid’s face is that how scientists at CERN are using
the circular loops for the Large Hadron Collider to relive the moment of
creation, proton beams running around in circles, accelerating and colliding
only to reproduce the moment of the big bang, through circles humans want to
understand the zero moment of the beginning and these circular loops sheltered
with magnetic dipoles hold the key to understanding that moment. Circles again,
as Droid had mentioned that “Geometry might be a universal language.
Shapes are shapes everywhere; a sphere here on earth will be a sphere on some
far away galactic settlement, although it might be known by some different name
there”. (https://lonelydroid911.blogspot.in/2015/02/the-language-constriction.html,
2015), circles will serve as a medium to understand time maybe then we can live
in a moment, and death will not seem so out of turn. So, the next time when
someone tells to you to live in the moment tell them that our minds our like
the time machines that hop from present to past and present to the future, and
we are its time travelers, we simply cannot live in the moment, all we can do
is savor it because even the light that reaches us is from the past.
